HONGGI KIM

South Korean pianist Honggi Kim is internationally acclaimed for his distinctive musical voice, where intellectual depth and emotional sensitivity converge to produce deeply personal interpretations. His dual background in both piano and composition provides him with a unique artistic perspective and a profound understanding of musical architecture.

This compelling musicianship has been recognized on the global stage through a series of major international competition successes. Most notably, Kim secured First Prize at the Isangyun International Music Competition (2013), First Prize along with two Special Prizes (for Chamber Music and Spanish Music) at the 60th International Piano Competition of Jaén (2018), and First Prize at the 5th Hong Kong International Piano Competition (2019). His international profile is further distinguished by main prizes at the Geneva (2014) and China (2013) International Piano Competitions, alongside specialized accolades at the Concours Géza Anda (Schumann Prize, 2018) and the Schubert International Music Competition (2016).

With a career deeply rooted in Europe, Honggi Kim has established a formidable presence across the continent’s most prestigious stages. As a versatile soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician, he has performed extensively in major musical hubs including Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK, while maintaining an active international profile across Asia and South America. His festival and venue highlights feature prominent appearances at the Cervo and Amfiteatrof Festivals in Italy, the Joy of Music Festival in Austria, and the Pianistenfestival Böblingen in Germany, alongside performances at Bechstein Hall in London. In his native South Korea, he remains a highly sought-after guest, frequently invited to the Seoul Arts Center Summer Music Festival, the PyeongChang Music Festival, and the Kumho Art Hall.

Kim regularly presents complete repertoire cycles. His thematic programming includes Rachmaninoff’s complete 24 Preludes (2023), Lyapunov’s Twelve Transcendental Études, Op. 11 (2024), and Maurice Ravel’s complete solo piano works (2025). For his 2026 season, he is performing Isaac Albéniz’s complete Iberia suite.
